Sea World here we come

About a month ago we brought season passes to Sea World. The best thing ever when you have a toddler and baby. We go for a couple of hours and then we go home. Perfect.
This morning the kids did great: up early, ate breakfast and were very
happy. So I thought it would be a great day for Sea World. We got there when the park opened. Of course Owen fell asleep right before we got there. I loaded the BOB up with the kids and a few things we would need for a couple of hours.
As a result of us getting there so early we were able to get a great
spot for the dolphin encounter. Emily had the biggest smile on her face.
We were so close the trainer brought the dolphin over to Emily and me. I
would have been able to touch him but Emily really wanted to go swimming
with the dolphins so I had to hold her tight. Owen did wake up to see the dolphin but was not to sure about it. But I loved it!!!! I could have stayed for longer. But the kids were ready to move on.
We visited a couple of the aquariums and Owen was so funny. He would say "Wow" or " what's that". But my favorite thing was when he walked up to a tank put his hand on the glass and said " Hi fishy"
The kid's area is a lot of fun. They have small rides and places for
even Emily to get out and crawl around. They also have a water play
water fountains. All 3 of us had fun playing there.
Owen did a great job listening and following directions so I got him a
little treat, dip n dots. Let me tell you I think he is a fan.
A trip to Sea World would not be complete with out seeing Shamu. I am a brave Momma but going to a Shamu show by myself, I don't think so. So we just paid a visit to the tank. It was amazing!! Owen looked right at me and said " scary" so we spent just a little bit of time there.
We were only there for about 2 hours but had a blast. We will be back
soon. Love seasons passes!!!!

Not just a Kiss

We all remember our first kiss and how it seemed to be magic. Well, I didn't know that when I became a mom I would be given the power of healing by just a kiss. If Owen is playing and falls all he wants is a kiss and then he is off again. Even if he notices an old scrape or bruise he wants that kissed too. After every kiss Owen says; "Thank you" in his cute little voice.
On some occasions he has just put his hand on my face and then says
"thank you". Air kisses sometime work. I can also kiss my hand and touch the bobo, that comes in handy when he falls on his butt or he is in the car seat.
I know that as he gets older my healing powers will fade. Maybe a kiss on the forehead will still work.

Do you have a trick that helps the ouches go away?

Emily is on a roll

Owen slept in this morning, giving Emily the opportunity to do a little
exploring without the help of her big brother. Like any little one, Emily likes to pull things apart. First on the list was a roll of paper towels then ripping apart an old magazine. I would roll the paper towels up again and she would unroll it again. Who knew what a big mess could be made by a little cute Emily.

Big brother

I wanted to share with you one of my new favorite memories of the kids. Over the weekend we were eating lunch and Owen wanted to feed Emily. He climbed on my lap and took over. With every bite he would say "Yum" as he would feed her. She loved it.
What a good big brother.

San Diego Fair

The San Diego county Fair is here! Time to take the kids and have fun.
Owen and Emily's Papa and Grandma Buck and cousin Katie came down. Owen loves running around after Katie. The weather was a little overcast but it was perfect for a day at the fair. FYI our lap top is still down so the only pictures I have to share with you were taken with my phone.
The first ride of the day was the Pony ride. We did not think Owen was going to like it. But he did. A plus was that he was able to wear Papa
Buck's sun glasses. Now as for as the other rides let's just say he did
not like them at all. Katie loved them all. Emily did great. She enjoyed looking at everyone and taking long naps as we walked around. As any good county fair there was a lot of livestock. Owen did not know what to think about the cows. Owen and Katie cheered Dave and Papa Buck when they played games. We brought sandwiches and healthy snacks with us. But I have to say, the fair food did smell really good. Some of the crazy things they had were; fried Twix, fried koi-aid, fried butter, fried avocado.
The kids did great. The only melt down was at the end of the day. And it was just because they were very tried, or how Owen says " I triey".
When the kids napped we did take this as a chance to split a cinnamon
bun with cream cheese frosting. Man oh man it was good.
The fair is open until the 4th. If you are in San Diego or will be, you
should check it out.

Goop it is

Today, I decided it would be a good day to mix up a batch of goop. This
stuff is soooooo cool. I might like it a little more than the kids. LOL.
It is a simple mix of water and corn starch. Start with your corn starch
and add water until you have the right texture. This stuff is sooo cool. If you move your hand fast through the goop it will feel like clay but if you move your hand slowly it will feel like water. I made this mixture with extra water b/c Emily likes to splash. So much fun!!! This activity can get messy. Clean up is not bad. When it drys you can sweep it up the mess and wipe it down with a cloth.

Our Funny Little Guy

We have been working on potty training for a while now. Words like
potty, pee pee, and poo poo have made it into our everyday language. As
adults we forget that some words have more than one meaning. Friday
night Dave was tired after a long week at work. But in true 2 year old
fashion Owen was full of energy and wanted to play. Dave told Owen
"sorry, buddy, daddy is pooped". Owen then began to smell Dave and said"poo poo" and then went and got the baby wipes and handed them to his dad. Then Owen smelled Emily to see if she went poop too. It was so
funny I had tears in my eyes. For the rest of the night Owen would check
to see if dad smelled and he would ask " poo poo?"

Mud play

Emily is exploring more and more each day. So I thought it would be fun
to play in the mud today. Owen was my helper with the water. Emily
liked the feel of the mud in her hands. And yes she did try to eat it.
That is why I only have a couple of pictures. Owen loves playing with
his cars in the mud making tracks and then cleaning them off with the
hose. Soon both kids were sitting in the mud covered and covered with
mud but having fun.
Have a great weekend.

Terrible 2 at the Buck House

The terrible 2 behavior that I have heard about, shows it's ugly little
head every now and then. But today...... Owen asked for cereal for
breakfast. As I was pouring the bowl, Owen asked for a cookie. Well this
was the start of an hour fit, filled with whining and crying for a
cookie. Let's hope the rest of the day goes better.
P.S. Owen did eat his cereal. I took a picture of him when he was crying for the cookie. He looks so sad. LOL

Spray bottle paint

About 6 years a go when I worked in social work I brought spray bottles made just for paint from Lakeshore. I was excited when I came across it in the art box the other day.
I taped art paper on the fence, with a little help from Owen. For the paint I mixed children's washable paint (a little bit) and water. Owen loved it he had a lot of fun. I was ready for a big mess but it really was not that bad. Most of the paint if not all was on the paper. This would make cute wrapping paper, ( Fathers day).

My little Emily

Well, my little Emily is growing up. It's happening so fast. She is now
9 months old. I know it is just the start. She is now crawling all over
the place and has taken her 1st step. Every day we see more and more of
her little personality. She thinks her brother and daddy are the funniest people around. Her Grandma ( my mom) is her best friend She loves to go through your purse, so far her Auntie Kimmy's is her favorite. Her little voice is so sweet and a smile that melts your heart. When the light shines just right all of her light brown wispy hair glows. How lucky we are to have our little Emily in our lives.
