The plan

Today is the day! Day 1

The plan

1. Cancel all plans. Stay at home
2. Stay outside as much as we can. To make it easier to clean up
accidents
3. Every 20 minutes we
visit the potty.
4. Have books and toy cars ready by the potty. To help him stay on the
potty.
5. Owen gets a little treat after.
6. Never get upset if he does not make it to the potty.
7. Make a BIG deal if he goes in the potty.
8. Lots of liquids.

Well this is the plan. Wish us luck.

Potty Time

Well our little guy is ready for the big boy potty. If you are using the bathroom Owen is right there waiting to flush the toilet and to see what is going on. He also tells me if he needs his diaper changed. But the past couple of days he was really telling me he was ready, in a 2 year old way. He was pulling down his diaper and peeing on the bathroom floor or the kitchen. Man oh man. So it was off to the store we go. But first I hit the blog world looking for tips. After looking at a lot of blogs, parenting sites, and asking friends. I had a plan.
But first we need supplies. One training toilets , big boy underpants, special hand soap, special wipes. On a side note man there a lot of choice of training toilets. I could not believe it. They even have ones that make a sound when you pee. I would think that in the eyes of a two year old it would way too much fun. He may never want to use the real toilet. Plus we don't need another thing in the house that needs batteries.
When we got back home from the store I let the kids check every thing out. Owen sat on the training toilet and made fog sounds and Emily liked to throw the underwear in the air. Too funny.
The first day of potty training will be on Monday my parents are visiting this weekend.
Do you have any tips?

The small town feel

One of the things we like about living in Lakeside is that there is a small town feel. Like the town that Dave and I grew up in, Yucaipa. Yucaipa today is not the small town it was when we lived there.
On my run yesterday I saw that they are changing the sign of our local park, Lindo Lake Park. I have to say I like the old look better. It had more of the small town feel to it. Even with new modern sign Lindo Lake Park is still a great place to have a picnic with the kids.
What are the small details about your town you like?

Bubble wrap

Emily is growing up so fast. She is getting really good manipulate thing with her hands and enjoys exploring new things. I really enjoy watching her discover her world. Owen was taking a nap so it was a perfect time for some Emily and Mommy time. I got out some bubble wrap for Emily to explore. I could tell she was having fun by the smile she would give me as she waved her arms in the air. Soon Owen woke up and joined in on the fun. Owen liked running over the bubble wrap and jumping on it trying to make it pop. The 3 of us had a good time playing with the bubble wrap. I have to say I had fun popping it.
** Small pieces of the bubble wrap can tare off so keep a close eye in the little ones when they are playing. Could be a choking hazard.
